In 1990, Child Care Services Association created the Teacher Education and Compensation Helps (T.E.A.C.H.) Early Childhood® Scholarship Program to address the issues of education, poor compensation and high turnover within the early childhood workforce.  T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® provides comprehensive, debt-free educational scholarships to early childhood professionals.

The first T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® scholarships were awarded in North Carolina and assisted 21 professionals pursue Associate Degrees in Early Childhood Education.  As of 2018, over 153,000 scholarships have been awarded, nationally!

In 2004, the Nevada Association for the Education of Young Children was awarded a license to offer T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® scholarships in Nevada and since its inception, 771 early childhood professionals have received educational scholarships.

T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® Nevada collaborates with child care programs to offer scholarships to early childhood professionals employed at the facilities.  The partnership formed between T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® Nevada, child care programs and scholarship recipients create opportunities toward advancing the education  of the early childhood workforce in Nevada.

T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® Nevada scholarships are funding by the Nevada Department of Education, Office of Early Learning and Development.

You may apply for the scholarship at any time. If you have a course in mind, we suggest that you apply two to three months before the course begins to allow ample time for completing the paperwork. Once you have submitted your scholarship application, you can expect a 4-6 week response time.

Please contact us and a Project Counselor will come to your center and provide an orientation to the director, owner, or interested staff.  We are happy to come and explain the many benefits of being a participating Early Learning Program.

Release Time is paid time off work.  Scholarship recipients on a full-time teacher contract must claim a minimum of 16 hours of Release Time each active semester.  Hours are logged on the Form C and then submitted to T.E.A.C.H. Nevada at the finish of each semester in order for the center to receive reimbursement for 80% of time claimed at $13.50 per hour.

Once you have submitted your class registration to T.E.A.C.H. Nevada for the upcoming semester, our program will cover all tuition & fees up front.  T.E.A.C.H. Nevada will have your school balance cleared by the date that fees are due, provided all paperwork deadlines were adhered to.

You will purchase your textbooks and then submit photocopies of itemized receipts to the appropriate T.E.A.C.H. Nevada office.  80% of that expense will be reimbursed to you about halfway through the semester.  This reimbursement check will also include your $50 travel stipend, as well as deduct your 10% of tuition responsibility.

Your textbooks can be purchased from any source you would prefer, as long as you’re able to provide an itemized textbook receipt to T.E.A.C.H. Nevada for 80% reimbursement.  Just keep in mind that T.E.A.C.H. Nevada cannot reimburse for shipping & handling expenses.
